Morgan Smith
Graduate of Columbia College at Columbia University and Mannes College of Music in New York City, Morgan made his debut as a Seattle Opera young artist (1999-2000) in 2001. He made his debut on stage playing Donald as Billy Budd. One of the most popular roles to perform in Seattle Mr. Smith has performed roles in 12 other productions since the premiere -- which included Count Alamaviva of Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni (title role), Silvio in I Pagliacci, Riccardo in I Puritani, and Peter Niles in Mourning Becomes an Electra. Smith regularly performs on stage for concert performances. Smith was the first to make the Dallas Symphony debut in Bach's St. Matthew Passion and as part of the San Antonio Symphony at the North American premiere for Detlef Glanert's orchestral interpretation of Brahms loved cycle Vier Praludien Und Ernste Gesange. The other repertoire for concerts includes Beethoven's Ninth Symphony; the Requiems of Brahms, Faure, Mozart and Durufle; the Mass with the Mass in C Minor from Mozart as well as the Mass that is in G Minor and Mass in G Minor of Vaughan Williams; Bach's B Minor Mass, numerous Cantatas, and Weihnachts Oratorium; Handel's Messiah as well as L'Allegro il Penseroso and il Moderato and Haydn's The Creation and Lord Nelson Mass.
