Curtis was born in the Philippines in Bolinao Pangasinan. Her father is an Australian Lawyer named James Ernest Curtis Smith. Her father was engaged to Ojales before 1982. Jasmine, Jasmine's younger sibling is also an acting. Clare is a cousin of theirs on the father's end. Clare passed away at four months old in 2007 due to a cardio-vascular disease.
